The check-in app for walk-in clinics
A waiting room full of people who are not sure anyone knows they are there is a waiting room that complains. Acorn gives arrivals a way to say so and gives your front desk a live list instead of a queue at the window.
Replaces: A sign-in sheet at the window or a kiosk you paid too much for.
What actually goes wrong
The window backs up
Everyone arriving at once means a line to tell someone you arrived. Scanning a code moves that line onto a screen.
Nobody knows how long they have waited
Real timestamps end the argument. You can see who has been there longest, and so can you when someone asks.
Kiosks are expensive and break
A tablet bolted to the wall costs money, needs cleaning, and stops working. A printed QR costs nothing and cannot crash.
How it works
- 01 Print the code. Stick it on the door. It is a QR that never changes, even if we change the URL behind it.
- 02 They scan it. A web page opens. They type a name and tap once. No app, no account.
- 03 You see them. A live list of names and how long each has waited. Tap a name to clear it.
Questions
Is this a medical records system?
No. Acorn records a name and a time, nothing clinical. It does not connect to an EHR and does not verify insurance.
What do you do with patient names?
Names are deleted automatically 30 days after check-in. We never store visitor IP addresses, only a salted one-way hash for abuse prevention.
Can patients check in before arriving?
The code lives on your door, so scanning it means they are there. That is the point: it tells you someone is physically present.
Do we need to buy hardware?
No. Print the QR on paper. Patients use their own phones and staff use any browser.
Can we ask intake questions?
Not today. Acorn collects a name and a time. Anything more is a form, and there are better tools for forms.
