The check-in app for nail salons
Nail salons run heavy on walk-ins, and walk-ins arrive while every tech is working. Acorn takes the greeting off your hands and puts the arrival on a screen.
Replaces: A paper list by the door, or hoping someone looks up.
What actually goes wrong
Everyone is mid-service
Hands are literally full. A customer who can check themselves in does not need anyone to stop.
The waiting order gets fuzzy
Several people arrive close together and nobody is sure who was first. Timestamps decide it.
Walk-ins leave when ignored
Being seen is most of it. A confirmation screen that says they are on the list keeps people in the chair.
How it works
- 01 Print the code. Stick it on the door. It is a QR that never changes, even if we change the URL behind it.
- 02 They scan it. A web page opens. They type a name and tap once. No app, no account.
- 03 You see them. A live list of names and how long each has waited. Tap a name to clear it.
Questions
Do customers need the app store?
No. It is a web page that opens from the camera. There is no app.
Can we show a wait time?
Wait estimates are built from your own check-in history. They are on for locations that turn them on.
Does it work on an old phone?
The check-in and list pages are plain HTML and JavaScript, built to load on old phones and camera-app browsers.
Can two people check in with the same name?
Yes, though a repeat of the same name within ten minutes is treated as a duplicate so nobody appears twice by double-tapping.
What does the QR cost to replace?
Nothing. Print as many as you like. They all point at the same place.
